Full score and instrumental material
Duration: 9 minutes
For two flutes (second doubling piccolo), two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, four horns, two trumpets, three trombones, tuba, timpani, percussion (two to four players), organ (optional) and strings
Chris Hazell, well-known arranger, has added a hit to the Christmas repertoire with this sparkling fantasia on three favourite carols. “I saw three ships” and “Good Christian men rejoice”, in joyous dancing rhythms, enclose a quiet meditation on Harold Darke’s “In the bleak midwinter”, for strings and woodwind alone. This work is a definite winner for seasonal concerts, whether as lively overture or rousing finale.
