Karn, Ruth: Catch me when I’m falling
SATB unaccompanied (with divisions)
Catch me when I’m falling is an intimate anthem of consolation, to the composer’s own words, which confronts the subjects of vulnerability, pain and loss. The music, heartfelt yet restrained, simple yet profound in its melody and tonality, casts a warm glow of hope in this finely controlled setting. Gently moving to its uplifting conclusion via the deft interplay of voices, the choir sings as a single, first-person voice while also sharing collectively the pathos of suffering and the promise of renewal like a beacon of faith.
