Morley, Thomas: Collected Motets. 4, 5 and 6 voices
Original price was: £18.50.£9.25Current price is: £9.25.
Transcribed and edited by H K Andrews and Thurston Dart. Revised by John Morehen.
In contrast to the light, Italianate manner of his madrigals, Morley’s motets show the composer absorbing the influence of Byrd and of earlier English sources. They include some of his earliest known music, such as Domine, Dominus noster and Domine, non est exaltatum cor meum, both for five voices, and the Latin and English texted four-voice carol Nolo mortem peccatoris, cast in the unadorned anthem mould of Tallis and Tye. The four motets from A Plain and Easy Introduction to Practical Music are also included in this volume.
