Richard Peirson

Richard PeirsonRichard Peirson studied at Cambridge University, the Royal Academy of Music and the National Opera Studio. On the staff of Scottish Opera from 1993 to 2001, he worked as a repetiteur, as solo pianist in The Turn of The Screw and Ariadne auf Naxos, as harpsichordist in Don Giovanni, Cosi fan Tutte and The Marriage of Figaro, and as chorus master for The Magic Flute and Gavin Bryars’ Medea. He was also Music Director for Scottish Opera-Go-Round’s La Bohème. On the music staff of English National Opera since 2005, he has also continued to perform as a freelance coach and as an accompanist, notably with soprano Lisa Milne in his own arrangements of the songs of Jacques Brel, with tenor Julian Hubbard and with baritone William Dazeley. Richard is also Music Director of the East-Anglian based Orange Opera. His vocal works include several settings of words by Edward Lear and, for chorus, liturgical titles and Lear’s The Akond of Swat and An Animal Alphabet.
