Bertie Baigent

Bertie Baigent is rapidly building an international reputation as an exciting and dynamic conductor and composer. Music Director of Waterperry Opera Festival, he was previously Assistant Conductor of the Colorado Symphony and has also worked with ensembles including the St Louis and Dallas symphony orchestras, the Britten Sinfonia, and Orchestra Teatro Regio Torino.

Bertie’s compositions have been widely performed in the UK and abroad by groups such as the Aurora Orchestra, the Choir of St Paul’s Cathedral, and the viol consort Fretwork, in venues such as the Royal Festival Hall and the Royal Opera House.  He has been awarded prizes and commissions by institutions including the BBC and the Royal Philharmonic Society, and his music has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, Classic FM, and other European radio stations.  Also active as an organist and continuo player, Bertie read music at the University of Cambridge, and subsequently completed a master’s in conducting and composition at the Royal Academy of Music.  www.bertiebaigent.com
