Just published in the Choral Now series for SATB unaccompanied (with divisions).
Nowell! captures the excitement and promise of Christmas. Its expectant energy brims over into the full unbridled joy of the season, with big, extroverted expressions of delight surrounding a more peaceful, lyrical central section. Carols often seem to suggest a kind of ‘angel music’, and this carol brings to mind not only trumpet-wielding herald angels, but also the benevolent spirits that watch over Mary and her newborn child. Nowell! was the winner of the inaugural Sir David Willcocks Carol Competition, adjudicated by John Rutter and David Hill.
